Wills Barn is situated on two levels, but is built into the hillside so that both floors have doorways to ground level.
Upstairs
The upper floor consists of a bright, airy, open-plan room with a full floor-ceiling window in the north-facing gable end to make full use of natural light and, of course, to enjoy the amazing view of the Yeo Valley below. A doorway leads out to a sheltered balcony from which there’s an even better view whilst a second door open directly into the neighbouring field if you would like to get to know the organic cows and sheep.
For a meeting, the room can comfortably sit 14 people around a large conference table. For presentations, up to 35 people can sit in a theatre-style arrangement.
Downstairs
Visitors entering the building walk into a large reception area where the wood-pellet stove is always a point of interest. There is a food and refreshment serving area with free-standing beech-topped work surfaces; these can be moved to open up the room for a larger group to use for a drinks reception, for example.
Along the corridor, there are toilets, with full disabled access, and the corridor leads to a separate meeting / break-out room which can seat 8 people around a table. Beyond this room is the Control Room where visitors can see the various electronic control systems and batteries that manage the electricity supply for the Barn.
Outside
There is a large, sheltered flagstone patio area beside and in front of the building so there is plenty of space for visitors to enjoy the good weather. There are facilities to provide BBQ meals here during the summer.
Food and Refreshments
Food and drink is provided by the Lakewood Conference Centre’s in-house catering team so anything from tea and biscuits through to a full sit-down meal can be provided upon request.
Disabled Accessibility
The Barn has full disabled access throughout. Both floors feature doorways to ground level. A stairlift allows direct access between floors for disabled persons and the elderly.
